gardener's scrub handmade soap

a soap recipe dedicated to my mother, who has loved digging in her garden since i was a toddler sitting next to her eating soil. i also remember her hands being rough and stained, and this is why we have used a variety of scrubby ingredients such as coarse mieliemeal, oats and poppyseeds, and  combined them with oils that have softening qualities, like cold-pressed avocado and macadamia. the addition of freshly harvested bulbine leaves from our garden, and raw propolis from our friends’ hives, help to soothe nicks and cuts. (by the way, this soap is also appreciated by mechanics or anyone who enjoys a good exfoliating scrub)

ingredients: veld-raised beef tallow, spring water, sunflower oil, coconut oil, sodium hydroxide, cold-pressed macadamia nut and avocado oil. essential oils of:  rosmarinus officinalis, melaleuca alternifolia, lavendin abrialis. aloysia citriodora, mentha piperita, pelargonium graveolens, ocimum basilicum.  non-gm yellow mieliemeal, poppyseeds, powdered raw oats, bulbine frutescens leaf gel, raw propolis
